I
just cannot believe that
the people
want two Creationists
in the
White House.
China & India graduate more engineers & scientists than we
have total students.
We need to encourage our students by example of leadership.
VOTE OBAMA!

PLEASE
We are not witnessing this seasons American Idol.
We are not voting for the "Fresh Face" that is not a change.
Let me suggest one important factor needed for modern leadership into the future.

Move Over US -- China To Be New Driver Of World's Economy And Innovation
ScienceDaily (Jan. 28, 2008) — A new study of worldwide technological competitiveness suggests China may soon rival the United States as the principal driver of the world's economy -- a position the U.S. has held since the end of World War II. If that happens, it will mark the first time in nearly a century that two nations have competed for leadership as equals.
We are in an election to decide who will lead our nation by example, encouragement and inspiration into the future.
The future that increasingly demands scientific, medical and engineering competence and innovation.
Forward thinking leadership is the key.
Pro-science, pro-reality, pro-discovery thinking that will encourage more of our youth to go into these challenging and demanding fields.
More money is needed to maintain a high standard of excellence and achievement.
I do not see how a backward thinking Creationist will help this cause.
The Bush administration is already damaged the search for scientific inquiry.
They have altered, deleted, ignored and damaged scientific studies to fit their antiquated political agenda.
They have also kept out the best and the brightest from around the world from attending our universities and expanding our base of knowledge, expertise and influence. Stultifying the important networking that usually results.
And now they want us to elect more of this same.
How are two creationist candidates going to inspire our young to pursue goals in science, medicine and engieering?
Wake up! Stop complaining about the jobs and technology going to China and India.
The only way to compete is to compete - not retreat.
Not retreat into the realm of anti-science, anti-logic and protectionist mentality.
Republicans like to complain about Democrats tendency toward trade protectionism.
But by being anti-science, anti-smart immigration, they are doing even further harm.
The disregard for good science and good scientific instruction is just shooting ourselves in the foot.

President's Corner:
Education Trends Portend Trouble for Defense
By Lawrence P. Farrell Jr
The United States in recent decades has seen some troubling trends. One of the most critical is that our schools are producing fewer U.S.-born science and math graduates than countries such as China, Taiwan, South Korea, India and Mexico.
Consider this dismal statistic: According to the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development, the United States ranks 16th of 27 countries in college-completion rates.
Of every 100 9th graders, only 18 will graduate from college within six years of completing high school. Those rates have barely budged since the 1990s. Of the 18, even fewer will have technical degrees.
The consequences of these developments may not on the surface seem all that damaging given the nation’s prosperity and world-class higher education system. But there are reasons to worry about what a shrinking pool of U.S. citizens with technical degrees means, in the long term, for the federal government and, especially, for the Defense Department and its contractors.
